With this painting, I was painting my way through the reality of what I was facing with my health. I stopped painting because the color of the red/hot pink was too bright and I was having trouble with my eyesight in 2022. At the time I didn’t know what was wrong with me. I was told I had an Aneurysm. Then maybe it’s a tumor behind my eye or Papilledema. I had the Spinal Tap that turned my world upside down in Feb 2023 until present day. I finally was able to touch this painting again after a long break, later 2024 and then stopped when I realized what the title needed to be, “Come What May.” After my surgery to seal my CSF leak, I was finally able to come back and finish this painting 3 months after surgery. 

I was not in a place to say “Come What May” with all the uncertainty for the majority of the time from 2023 until now, 2025. I’m still scared and unsure of what’s to come, and also I feel very held. There are so many people who came alongside me on this awful journey and even though I might have died, and it was not easy to see the suffering up close, they still showed up. Whispering to my heart, even here we are with you…”Come What May.”
